D5.1 Enablers for Sensing and Understanding IoT Context

by | Jul 5, 2019 | 0 comments

The mediation between the domain independent crawling, discovery, and indexing mechanisms and the domain dependent applications is a crucial task to the succesful execution of the IoTCrawler project. This work describes an intermediate layer providing methods for domain knowledge representation and use in automated machine-initiated search. Therefore, it links lower level attributes and patterns provided by WP4 to higher-level concepts representing user or machine context, following a bottom-up approach. Moreover, domain knowledge allows for improving sensory information using related propagation and interpolation models. This deliverable provides the initial generic models for data interpolation and extrapolation, for the creation of virtual sensors.

Additionally, the creation of virtual sensors offers additional information where no realworld sensor deployments are available (e.g. due to intermittent disruptions) or when collecting high frequency realworld measurements are too resource intensive.
