It seemed more fitting than ever to gather the peak of the IoT community despite the challenges upon us by CoVid-19. The backdrop provided by a global pandemic helped heighten reflection and a sense of urgency and gravitas in talking about security and privacy in the IoT landscape.
Dr. Antonio Scarmeta was in the fitting role of coordinator between partnering H2020 projects Chariot, SOFIE and our own IoTCrawler.
The talk between Antonio Skarmeta, Priit Anton/ SOFIE and Costas Loupos/ CHARIOT unfolded the benefits of each of the three projects, The closing discussion was centered around their individual, professional views of the Security and Privacy landsacpe including lifecycle issues, the challenges of interoperability
and negotiating the division of the responsibility through the supplychain from jurisdictions to the end-customer. All three projects play a role in shifting responsibilities of security and privacy away from being much the matter of the end-user and in the process boosting IoT security altogether.
Antonio Skarmeta finally turned the focus onto blockchain as a particularly important tool, which generated the final closing arguments from Priit Anton and Costas Loupos, which they felt especially strongly about.
